Kennebec Valley Council of Governments (KVCOG) is a non-profit municipal services organization serving Kennebec, Somerset and western Waldo counties. KVCOG specializes in planning, economic and community development and business development. Its mission is to be a leader for local and regional economic development and planning, supporting and expanding the capabilities of local government within the Kennebec Valley region.

KVCOG seeks a Community and Economic Development Specialist to provide analytical, administrative and specialized technical work in community and economic development within the Kennebec Valley region. The successful candidate should have experience with community and economic development programs and resources, grant writing and administration and project/program management and oversight.

Looking for motivated, well-organized, self-directed leader seeking an excellent opportunity. Must possess excellent communication skills including public speaking, be able to organize and prioritize many projects and work independently as well as in a team environment.

This is a full time exempt position. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Some flexibility required for night and weekend meetings and events. Must possess a valid driver’s license as some travel is required.

Job Requirements

The candidate shall have experience with community and/or economic development including significant independence of judgment and administrative responsibilities. Grant writing and administration is required. Experience with federal and state granting entities is required. CDBG knowledge is preferred. The candidate shall possess a valid driver’s license.

Education Requirements

The candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree or higher level degree preferably with specialization in community development, business, economics, or a related field. Consideration may be given for oth several years’ experience in a related field.
