Entry-Level Wetland Ecologist

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking an entry level Wetland Ecologist for our Environmental Practice working out of our Freeport, Maine or Boston, Massachusetts office.

Roles and Responsibilities

POWER is seeking an Entry-Level Wetland Ecologist to assist and/or lead field assessments for wetland and ecological projects located New England, while offering support to projects across the country. This position involves assisting or leading wetland and waterbody delineations, identifying protected plant species, and conducting habitat assessments, as well as organizing and summarizing field-collected data, and compiling survey reports. Candidates must be capable of interfacing with internal staff (project managers and other discipline leads) as well as client representatives and team members.

This position is primarily a field position. It is likely to require long days outdoors in variable weather and terrain. Projects require frequent travel and often working six days per week. Work locations vary, ranging throughout the Eastern, Midwest, and Southern United States. Candidates must have positive attitudes, be physically prepared to work in difficult conditions, and be eager to become a critical part of the POWER team. The candidate should be proficient with or have exposure to wetland delineations, plant surveys, and/or soil surveys, working as part of diverse and dynamic project teams and be looking for opportunities for growth through gaining new skills.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or other related field
•Experience with assisting or leading wetland delineations
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills
•Attention to detail and commitment to quality and professionalism
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Working knowledge of the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineations Manual and appropriate regional supplements
•Exposure to Clean Water Act (CWA) and Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulations
•Experience with writing technical reports or permit sections
•Working knowledge of GPS technologies
•Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
•Must be willing and able to travel throughout the region with potential travel throughout the U.S.
